Wilpattu National Park day Tour
Wilpattu National Park is the largest and one of the oldest national parks in Sri Lanka. It is noted for the most number of leopard sightings, its historical significance as well as large number of natural lakes formed that fill up with rain water. For 16 years, the park was closed due to the civil war unrest in Sri Lanka, but was reopened to the public in 2003.
The day tour usually starts early in the morning, with a pick up from your hotel in Colombo or Negombo, followed by a scenic drive to Wilpattu National Park, which takes approximately 3-4 hours. Upon arrival at the park, you will be welcomed by your expert guide, who will take you on a safari through the park's dense forests, open grasslands, and serene lakes.
During the safari, you will have the opportunity to see a variety of animals in their natural habitats, such as leopards, elephants, sloth bears, spotted deer, and water buffalo. Your guide will provide you with fascinating information about the wildlife and their behaviors, as well as the park's ecosystem and conservation efforts.
After the safari, you will have a chance to relax and enjoy a delicious lunch, either in the park or at a nearby restaurant, before returning to Colombo or Negombo in the evening.
