Geoffrey Bawa (1919-2003) was a Sri Lankan architect who is widely considered as one of the most influential architects in Asia during the 20th century. He is renowned for his unique style of tropical modernism, which blended traditional Sri Lankan architectural elements with modern design principles.
Bawa was trained as a lawyer in England but returned to Sri Lanka to pursue a career in architecture. He was deeply influenced by the tropical landscape and traditional architecture of his home country, and he sought to create designs that were harmonious with the natural environment.
