Colombo City Tour

The city tour of Colombo starts with a visit to the National Museum, where visitors can explore the country's rich cultural heritage and history. The museum features a vast collection of exhibits, including ancient artifacts, art, and crafts, and is an excellent introduction to Sri Lanka's cultural and historical heritage.

Next on the tour is the Independence Square, a national monument that commemorates Sri Lanka's independence from British rule. The square is a beautiful park-like setting.

The tour also includes a visit to the Gangaramaya Temple, one of the most famous Buddhist temples in Sri Lanka. The temple is a fascinating blend of modern architecture and traditional Buddhist design and houses a significant collection of Buddhist artifacts, including statues, carvings, and paintings.

Another highlight of the tour is a visit to the Galle Face Green, a large open space facing the Indian Ocean. The green is a popular spot for picnics, kite flying, and evening strolls, and offers stunning views of the ocean and the city skyline.

The tour also takes visitors to see several old colonial buildings, such as the Colombo Race Course and the Old Parliament Building, which are excellent examples of British colonial architecture.

The tour also includes a visit to the Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara, an ancient Buddhist temple located on the banks of the Kelani River. The temple is a popular pilgrimage site and features beautiful murals and carvings that depict the life of the Buddha.

Finally, the tour concludes with a visit to the vibrant Pettah Market, where visitors can experience the hustle and bustle of daily life in Colombo. The market is a bustling hub of commerce, selling everything from spices to clothing, and is an excellent place to shop for souvenirs and local products.
