The southern coast of Sri Lanka is a popular tourist destination, known for its beautiful beaches such as Mirissa ,Weligama, Unawatuna, Hikkaduwa and Bentota. Also there are several wildlife reserves such as Yala, Bundala and Kalametiya  bird sanctuary located in the southern region of the island.

Overall, the wildlife reserves in south Sri Lanka offer visitors the opportunity to see a diverse range of wildlife and enjoy the country's natural beauty. Each park has its unique features and is worth visiting for any nature lover or wildlife enthusiast.

Day 01 - Airport - Negombo

Upon arrival at the Bandaranayake international airport, you will be greeted and welcome by our chauffeur/guide
and transferred to Negombo. 
Negombo is located just a short drive from the airport. Spend your first day relaxing on the beach, exploring the town's colonial architecture,  visiting the Old Dutch Fort area and Negombo Fish Market a where you can watch local fishermen bring in their catch of the day.

Day 02 - Negombo - Pinnawala - Kandy

After breakfast, start road journey to Kandy,
On the way visit Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage,  Located approximately 2 hours from the airport, Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is an orphanage and breeding ground for Asian elephants. The orphanage was established in 1975 and is home to around 80 elephants, most of which are orphaned or rescued from the wild.
Here you will have the opportunity to witness the daily routines of over 80 elephants, including bathing in the river, feeding, and playing. This is a unique experience and one that you will not want to miss.
Next up is a visit to the Peradeniya Botanical Garden. This is one of the most beautiful botanical gardens in the world, and it's home to a stunning array of flora and fauna. You'll have the opportunity to wander through the gardens, take in the sights and smells, and learn about the plants and animals that call the garden home.
After visiting Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, you will be taken to your hotel in Kandy where you can check in and relax.

Day 03 - Kandy

Early morning trekking at Knuckles Mountain Range.
Knuckles Mountain Range is a popular trekking destination in Sri Lanka, known for its stunning natural beauty and breathtaking views. 
Trekking through the Knuckles Mountain Range is a unique experience that takes you through a variety of landscapes, including grasslands, cloud forests, and rugged rocky outcrops. The trekking routes vary in difficulty, from easy to challenging, and can be customized according to your preferences and fitness level.

Day 04 - Kandy - Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast start road journey to Nuwara Eliya,
Morning visit to the Temple of the Tooth Relic, the most important temple for the Buddhist all over the world. The temple was originally built by the Kandyan Kings in 1595, to house and honor the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha. 
 Once completed the temple, You'll embark on a walking tour of  Kandy City. Kandy is a vibrant city with a rich history and culture, and there are many sights to see. Some of the highlights of the tour may include the Kandy Lake, the Kandy Market, and the Royal Palace of Kandy. 
Visit Ramboda Waterfall, which is approximately 109 meters high and is the 11th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka.  The waterfall is surrounded by lush green forests and is a popular tourist attraction in the area.
Visiting a Tea factory and plantation is one of the most popular activities in Sri Lanka for tea lovers, and there are several tea plantations and factories offer guided tours that take you through the tea-making process, from the initial plucking of the tea leaves to the final packaging of the tea for sale. You'll learn about the different types of tea produced in Sri Lanka, including black tea, green tea, and white tea, and have the opportunity to taste some of the teas produced at the factory.

Day 05 - Nuwara Eliya

Early morning trekking at Horton Plains National Park is an experience like no other. Located in the central highlands of Sri Lanka, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a breathtaking natural wonderland that offers stunning panoramic views, diverse wildlife, and unique plant species.
As you begin your trek in the early morning, the crisp air and cool temperatures create a refreshing atmosphere. The trek is usually around 9km, and the first part takes you through a dense cloud forest. As you walk through the misty forest, you may spot some of the many species of birds that call the park home, including the Sri Lanka White-eye and the Sri Lanka Junglefowl.
As you emerge from the forest, the landscape opens up to reveal vast grasslands and rolling hills. One of the highlights of the trek is reaching the World's End, a sheer cliff drop of nearly 870 meters that offers a breathtaking view of the valley below.

Day 06 - Nuwara Eliya - Ella

Morning explore the charming city of Nuwara Eliya, also known as Little England. During this city tour visiting all the main attractions include colonial buildings, local markets,  Lake Gregory and seeing beautiful landscapes covered with tea plants, a contrasting view.
After exploring the city of Nuwara Eliya proceed to Nanu-Oya railway station for your scenic train journey to Ella.
Train ride from Nanu Oya to Ella is definitely one of the most scenic train journeys in South Asia! The train ride covers a distance of about 68 km and takes around 3 hours to complete, depending on the train and stops.
The route takes you through some of the most breathtaking scenery in Sri Lanka, including tea plantations, misty mountains, and cascading waterfalls. Along the way, you'll pass through small towns and villages, giving you a glimpse into local life in the region.
After reaching Ella, you will check in to your hotel.
In the afternoon, you will visit the Nine Arch Bridge, which is located close to Ella. The bridge is a popular tourist attraction and is known for its stunning architecture and picturesque surroundings. It is also a great spot for photography.
After visiting the Nine Arch Bridge, you will trek to Mini Adam's Peak. The trek is not very difficult and can be completed in approximately 30-45 minutes. The view

Day 07 - Ella - Udawalawa

After breakfast start road journey to Udawalawa,
En-route Visit Rawana Waterfall, which is a stunning natural waterfall located near the town of Ella, also known for its scenic beauty. The waterfall is named after Rawana, a character from the Hindu epic Ramayana, who is believed to have hidden Princess Sita in a cave behind the waterfall. Visitors can enjoy the breathtaking views of the waterfall and take a refreshing swim in the cool waters.
Next head towards Buduruwagala Temple, which is an ancient Buddhist temple located in the town of Wellawaya, about an hour's drive from Rawana Waterfall. The temple is known for its impressive rock carvings, which date back to the 10th century. The main attraction of the temple is a 15-meter high rock sculpture of Lord Buddha, flanked by two smaller sculptures.
Head towards to Udawalawa and check into the hotel in Udawalawa.
In the afternoon commence a jeep safari at Udawalawa National Park which is a wildlife sanctuary located in the southern part of Sri Lanka, known for its large herds of Asian elephants. Visitors can also spot a variety of animals, including water buffaloes, crocodiles, spotted deers, and various species of birds.
Upon completion the safari visit Elephant Transit Home which is a rehabilitation center for orphaned elephants located in the Udawalawe National Park area of Sri Lanka. The center is dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of these elephants, with the goal of eventually releasing them back into the wild. Visitors can observe the elephants from a distance.

Day 08 - Udawalawa - Sinharaja

The Early morning jeep safari at Udawalawa National Park is an exhilarating wildlife adventure that takes place in the early hours of the day. You will embark on a 4x4 jeep and explore the stunning natural beauty of the park while spotting exotic animals in their natural habitats. As you journey through the park, you will witness a variety of wildlife, including majestic elephants, leopards, sloth bears, water buffalo, and many species of birds.
After breakfast, you will embark on a scenic road journey to Sinharaja Rain Forest, one of the most important biodiversity hotspots in the world. Located in the southwestern region of Sri Lanka, this dense tropical rainforest is home to a vast array of plant and animal species, many of which are endemic to the region. The journey to Sinharaja is itself an unforgettable experience, as you travel through winding roads and picturesque landscapes.

Day 09 - Sinharaja - Mirissa

After having breakfast, you will begin a tour of the Sinharaja Rain Forest and Lankagama village. Sinharaja is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is one of the last remaining virgin rainforests in the world. You will have the opportunity to explore the lush green forest and see a variety of wildlife including birds, reptiles, and mammals. The tour may include a guided walk along nature trails, bird watching, and learning about the flora and fauna of the area.
Next, you will visit the nearby Lankagama village. This village is located on the edge of the Sinharaja forest and is home to a small community of people who live in harmony with nature. You can experience the local culture and lifestyle by visiting a community center, interacting with villagers, and learning about their traditional practices such as organic farming and handicrafts.
After the tour, you will continue your journey by road to Mirissa, a popular beach destination on the southern coast of Sri Lanka. Once you arrive, you will check into your hotel and have the rest of the day to relax on the beach. Mirissa is known for its picturesque beaches, calm waters, and laid-back atmosphere, making it a perfect place to unwind after a day of adventure. You can enjoy a swim, soak up the sun, or simply lounge on the sand with a good book.

Day 10 - Mirissa - Bentota

The Early Morning Whale watching tour in Mirissa is a unique experience where you get to witness the beauty and majesty of these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. The tour typically starts very early in the morning to ensure the best chances of spotting whales. After the tour, you will return to your hotel and depart for Bentota.
On the way to Bentota, you will make a stop at Koggala to watch the traditional stilt fishermen in action. These fishermen have been practicing their unique technique for generations, and it is a sight to behold.
Next, you will visit Jungle Beach in Unawatuna, a secluded and beautiful beach surrounded by lush jungle. Here, you can relax and take in the serene atmosphere, or take a swim in the crystal-clear waters.
After that you will go on a walking tour in  Galle Dutch Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best-preserved colonial-era forts in Asia. The fort was built by the Portuguese in the 16th century and later expanded by the Dutch.
During the walking tour, you will explore the narrow streets and alleys lined with colonial-era buildings, including churches, mosques, and colonial-era mansions. You will also visit the ramparts, bastions, and gates that surround the fort, providing stunning views of the Indian Ocean and the city.

Day 11 - Bentota - Colombo

Relax on   Bentota beach for a while longer, taking in the beautiful scenery and soaking up the sun. Whether you choose to take a swim, get a beach chair or simply lounge on a towel, Bentota beach is the perfect place to unwind and relax before heading to Colombo.
On the way to Colombo making a detour to visit Lunuganga Bawa Gardens. This stunning property, designed by the  world renown Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa one of the most significant figures in the development of contemporary architecture in Asia. He is considered to be the father of "tropical modernism," a style of architecture that blends traditional Sri Lankan designs with modernist principles. 
After enjoying some time exploring the gardens, head towards to Colombo

Day 12 - Colombo - Airport

The morning Colombo City Tour is a  tour that takes you on a journey through the bustling capital of Sri Lanka 
which offers a mix of modern and colonial architecture and cultural landmarks.
 During the tour, you may visit some of the popular attractions such as the National Museum, Gangaramaya Temple, Independence Square, Galle Face Green and the Old Parliament Building. 
Along the way, you'll have the opportunity to explore Colombo's bustling markets, where you can shop for souvenirs, try local street food, and interact with the friendly locals.
After the tour is over, you will be taken directly to the airport for your departure, marking the end of your journey in Sri Lanka.
