Early morning jeep safari at Yala National Park will begin before sunrise, usually around 5:30 or 6:00 am, to take advantage of the cool morning weather and increased chances of spotting wildlife. You will be accompanied by an experienced guide and a driver who will take you through the park's dirt roads in a 4WD jeep.
Yala National Park is one of the most popular wildlife reserves in Sri Lanka, located in the southeastern part of the country. The park is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including leopards, elephants, sloth bears, sambar deers, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species.
After the safari, you will have breakfast at your hotel and then depart for Galle, a coastal city in the southwestern part of Sri Lanka. The road journey will take around 3 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions.
During the road journey, you will make a stop in Koggala, a small fishing village, to watch the traditional stilt fishermen in action. These fishermen stand on tall wooden stilts planted in the shallow waters and use a fishing rod to catch fish. It is a unique sight and an important part of Sri Lanka's cultural heritage.
After that, you will check in to your hotel in Galle and have some time to freshen up before embarking on a Late afternoon Galle Fort Walk. A UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best-preserved colonial-era forts in Asia. The fort was built by the Portuguese in the 16th century and later expanded by the Dutch.
During the walking tour, you will explore the narrow streets and alleys lined with colonial-era buildings, including churches, mosques, and colonial-era mansions. You will also visit the ramparts, bastions, and gates that surround the fort, providing stunning views of the Indian Ocean and the city.
